Day of the week buys $100 of the coin at the daily close on the same weekday of every complete week in the period you pick, once for each of the seven weekdays, and compares the average price each plan paid. Every buy pays a 0.1% fee and 0.05% slippage, and the table also shows what each plan was worth at the end, the average daily change for each weekday and how often each weekday had the lowest close of its week. Change the first day of the week to see how much that last count depends on where a week starts.
Time of day uses bitcoin's 1-hour prices. For each full day it compares the price at every hour with that day's average price, then averages the results over all days, in Eastern Time or in UTC. Point at a bar or tap it to read the numbers.
Over the 272 complete weeks from July 5, 2021 to September 20, 2026, buying $100 of bitcoin every Tuesday paid the lowest average price, 0.09% below the average of the seven weekdays, and every Wednesday paid the highest, 0.12% above it. The gap between them, 0.21%, is about two 0.1% trading fees. Both plans put in $27,200; at the end the Tuesday plan was worth $51,784.77 and the Wednesday plan $51,674.98, $109.79 apart.

| Wednesday | +0.12% | +0.37% | 49% | 33 of 272 |

The cheapest day did not stay the same. Tuesday was cheapest in 2021 and 2024, Sunday in 2022, Monday in 2023, Friday in 2025 and Thursday so far in 2026. Sunday, the cheapest day of 2022, was the dearest in 2021, 2023 and 2024. The other coins disagree as well: Tuesday for ethereum, Sunday for XRP and Thursday for Solana, Dogecoin, Cardano and Avalanche, from 0.26% to 0.45% below their seven-day averages.
Count how often each weekday had the lowest close of its week and Monday wins clearly: 72 of 272 weeks, against 24 for Saturday. Start the weeks on Thursday instead and Thursday wins with 68, while Monday drops to 31. For every choice of first day, the weekday with the most weekly lows was the first or the last day of the week. In this data the lows gather at the edges of whatever seven days are called a week, so a count like this says more about where the week is cut than about the weekday.
On the 1,903 complete days in Eastern Time, the cheapest hour on average was midnight, 0.030% below the same day's average price, and the dearest was 7 p.m., 0.052% above it. The whole range, 0.082%, is smaller than a single 0.1% fee. On average, every hour from midnight to 4 a.m. ET was slightly below the day's average price, and every hour from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. slightly above. The cheapest hour also changed every year: 11 a.m. in 2021, 11 p.m. in 2022, 4 a.m. in 2023, 1 a.m. in 2024, 4 p.m. in 2025 and 10 a.m. so far in 2026.
The day's lowest price came most often at midnight (8.9% of days) and 11 p.m. (6.8%), the first and last hours of the day, against 4.2% if lows were spread evenly. In UTC the same edge hours lead, 00:00 UTC and 23:00 UTC, which is the pattern of the weekly lows again.
For the calendar-month version of the same question, the bitcoin monthly returns heatmap tests every month since 2018. The time the market game shows how hard it is to act on patterns day by day, and the bitcoin investment calculator values a single purchase on any past date.
Educational, not financial advice. The tool shows what happened on past prices. It does not predict which day or hour will be cheapest next or recommend buying or selling any coin.
In this data no weekday stayed cheapest. Over all 272 weeks since July 2021, Tuesday buys paid the lowest average price, only 0.09% below the seven-day average, and five different weekdays were the cheapest in the six calendar years. The gap between the best and the worst weekday was about the size of two trading fees.
On average the hours from midnight to 4 a.m. Eastern Time were slightly below the day's average price and the evening hours slightly above, but the whole range was 0.082%, less than one 0.1% trading fee, and the cheapest hour changed every year.
Not in this data. Weekly buys on Saturday paid an average price level with the seven-day average and Sunday buys 0.10% above it. Saturday closes changed by +0.02% a day on average and Sunday closes by +0.15%, both inside the range of the other weekdays.
Bitcoin trades around the clock, and this data has a price for every hour, so the daily close is set by the exchange. Bybit's daily candles end at midnight UTC, which is 8 p.m. Eastern Time during daylight saving time and 7 p.m. the rest of the year. A chart that uses another time zone draws different daily candles.
Very little. Weekly $100 buys from July 2021 put in $27,200 and ended between $51,674.98 and $51,784.77 depending on the weekday, a spread of 0.21%. The year a plan started and ended mattered far more than its weekday.
